The land
淼庐 (Miao Lu) is the ‘cottage of boundless water’. Our first vineyard, '洛克园 La Roche', is on Naxi land - a 3 hectare collection of south facing terraces at the foot of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain in Yuhu Village, Yunnan.
We grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay at high densities, farming by hand at an elevation of 2800m. The vines are rooted on a combination of limestone and marine basalt soils, 20 kilometers from Lijiang.
Through the endless accumulation of detail that comes with farming and making wine in an uncharted place, we learn more about growing and making wine everyday.
It is our love of wine that pushes us to learn, to improve, and to continually refine our understanding of quality.
Our dream is to make wines with an individual sense of beauty, wines that are singular and unique to Miaolu.

The House
淼庐 (Miao Lu) is the ‘cottage of boundless water’, designed by Li Xiao Dong and completed in 2009.
The choice to name our wine project after our house is no coincidence. Not an estate in the traditional sense, we look to the house for inspiration and aspiration.
Though modern, our home engages in dialogue with the past. The design is true to the cultural heritage of the region, the Naxi people and the architectural style of the village. The lines and forms reflect and emulate the natural surroundings seamlessly. Not blending in, but also not out of place.
These values are the same we hope to represent in our wines.
Our aim is for the wine to represent and encapsulate the land it comes from, for our wines to be modern while engaging in a dialogue with heritage and tradition, and to inspire drinkers with imagination and wonder that transcends beauty alone
